Vanessa Gorman, Reading Ancient Greek in the Digital Age
The course is based on videotaped lessons, additional material (PowerPoints, handouts, etc.), and practice sentences derived from Xenophon’s Hellenika. The students can read sentences using Alpheios to identify the meaning and morphology, and using dependency trees in Perseids to understand the syntax. Likewise, they can annotate their own trees and compare them to a Gold Standard in Perseids. The idea is to let the programs do their job instead of relying on rote memorization for everything.
