Abstract

Andrea Consalvi, Soluzioni per il markup dell'apparato critico: il caso della Latin Grammarians Collection

Versione precedente trovata nella bozza su drive dei grammatici latini: Starting from the case of the database of Latin grammatical texts, which is being created using the Cadmus program as part of the PRIN 2017 Transmission of Ancient Linguistics, ERC AdG-2019 PAGES and Thesaurus dubii sermonis (von Humboldt Stiftung 2020 - Sapienza University of Rome 2018), this article aims to reflect on the challenges posed by the digitisation of the critical apparatus and on the contextual need to establish conventions within the project. The first part of the article analyses the main types of problems that arise in the adaptation of printed critical apparatuses to the digital model of the Cadmus apparatus layer and the solutions adopted in the three projects listed above are presented. The second part of the contribution presents a rule-based program written in Python to facilitate the learning of the aforementioned conventions for entering data in Cadmus. Tratto dal PDF della versione editoriale effettivamente pubblicata: Starting with the case of the Latin Grammarians Collections, currently under development using the Cadmus system as part of the PRIN 2017 The Transmission of Ancient Linguistics, ERC AdG-2019 PAGES and Thesaurus dubii sermonis project (Sapienza Università di Roma 2018-von Humboldt Stiftung 2020), this article aims to reflect on the challenges posed by the markup of the critical apparatus. The initial section begins by providing a status quaestionis concerning the digitisation of Latin grammatical texts and the annotation of the critical apparatus. Subsequently, the second part delves into the workflow for marking up the critical apparatus using Cadmus.
