Paolo Monella Post-doc scholarship in Digital Humanities Accademia dei Lincei, Rome 2012

Why are there no comprehensively digital scholarly editions of classical texts?

  • I wrote a shorter (now outdated) version of this paper in April 2012 and published it online here;
  • This earlier version generated a discussion in the Digital Classicist mailing list;
  • I then delivered it as a talk on 15 September 2012 at the IV Incontro di Filologia Digitale in Verona, Italy. The slides and more details on the talk are available here;
  • The paper was finally published in the conference proceedings: Paolo Monella. Why are there no comprehensively digital scholarly editions of classical texts? In Adele Cipolla, editor, Digital Philology: New Thoughts on Old Questions, Storie e linguaggi, 141-159. Padova, March 2018. libreriauniversitaria.it edizioni.
