8.8.1 Storia dell'APh

The Année Philologique Online (APh from now on) is an online repertory of bibliography in Classics, started in 1928. It was published for decades in print and is not available as an online database. Since 2018 it is managed by publisher Brepols through the BREPOLiS portal.

L'Année Philologique Online (d'ora in poi APh) è un repertorio bibliografico della ricerca classicistica iniziato nel 1928. Pubblicato per decenni in cartaceo, è ora disponibile in digitale, e dal 2018 è gestito dall'editore Brepols tramite la piattaforma BREPOLiS.

8.8.2 Subscription

8.8.2 Abbonamento

There are two main plans to access this resource:

Vi si accede dunque per abbonamento. Esistono due tipi principali di abbonamento:

• Institutional: a university department (or other research institution) subscribes a plan and offers its users free access through its computers, without password.
• Individual: a scholar subscribes a personal plan (costing a little more than 50 € yearly) and can access the APh from any computer with her own username and password.

• Istituzionale: un dipartimento o altra istituzione di ricerca si abbona, e offre ai suoi utenti l'accesso tramite i propri computer, senza password
• Personale: uno studioso si abbona (ad un costo di poco superiore ai 50 € annuali), e accede da qualunque computer tramite nome utente e password

Users can access the APh in two ways:

3. If you have an individual subscription (username / password): http://www.brepolis.net → Enter databases Button → Scroll down to the bottom of the page → Access without IP address recognition […] click here.
4. Per chi accede con abbonamento personale (nome utente / password): http://www.brepolis.net → Pulsante Enter databases → Scendi fino al fondo della pagina → Access without IP address recognition […] click here.

8.8.4 Search

8.8.4 Effettuare una ricerca

Once you access the APh, the Simple search mask appears (figure 1). To go back to this mask after navigating elsewhere, go to Search in the green horizontal menu on the top and Simple search in the grey bar below it:

All'apertura dell'APh, compare normalemnte la maschera per la ricerca semplice (figura 1), che è richiamabile comunque cliccando Cerca nella barra verde in alto, e Ricerca semplice nella barra grigia subito sotto:

To find out about the use of each search field, click on the icon on its right.

Per conoscere il significato di ciascun campo di ricerca, cliccare sull'icona alla sua destra.

To perform more complex searches, click on Search in the green bar above and on Advanced search in the grey bar below it: these searches are calle d "boolean" and combine different criteria. For example, you can search all books or articles including the word "democracy" (in the title or in the abstract), and that have been published between 2000 and 2010 (figure 2):

Ricerche più complesse sono disponibili cliccando su Cerca nella barra verde in alto, e Ricerca avanzata nella barra grigia subito sotto: si tratta di ricerche, dette booleane, che combinano diversi criteri. Ad esempio, tutti gli studi che comprendano la parola "democrazia" nel titolo o nell'abstract, e che siano stati pubblicati tra il 2000 e il 2010 (figura 2):
